What We Do Here
The beauty of cigars isn’t just in the smoke... it’s in the ritual, the memory, the lore. Each review starts with the basics: how it smokes, how it tastes, whether it’s worth lighting up again or buying a box. Then, for those chasing the full story, we peel back the layers, deeper notes, subtleties, and the craft behind the leaf. At the end, we leave you with a little folklore to match the mood. Because around here, the smoke always carries a story.
Casual Take
The My Father Blue is an impressive debut from the brand’s Honduran factory. The construction is near perfect: a crisp burn line, solid white ash, and a draw that feels effortless. Flavor wise, it’s balanced yet bold, milk chocolate, citrus brightness, roasted coffee with cream, toasted almonds, raisin sweetness, wood, and toasted bread. For a line that has produced countless cigars, this release stands out as something truly special.
Deep Burn
The first puffs reveal mocha sweetness and cedar with a touch of raisin, while the retrohale carries caramel and a flash of citrus. The texture is creamy, immediately setting this apart from the heavier spice-forward My Fathers of old.
By the second third, cocoa and roasted coffee begin to mingle with cedar. Almonds and a floral brightness come through stronger now, while the retro leans toward orange rind with just a tickle of pepper.
The balance here is impressive. Rich yet never overwhelming, smooth yet still dynamic.
The final third digs deeper into roasted coffee and charred oak, with the citrus fading away. A nuttier core stays steady, accented by white pepper on the retrohale. The sweetness steps back, leaving cedar and bread-like notes to finish. Strength holds at medium-full, and construction that never wavers. A true standout in the My Father portfolio.

The Heart of the Leaf
The My Father Blue is more than another extension of a legacy brand, it’s a statement. It represents the family’s bold move into Honduras while honoring their Cuban-inspired roots. The burn is razor-sharp, the draw consistent, and the smoke output generous.
For My Father fans, this is a new side of the brand without abandoning what makes it beloved. It’s a cigar that balances tradition with innovation, proving that even the most established names still have new stories to tell. For me, the Blue earns a solid 8.5 — A Tale Worthy Smoke.

The Lore
The valley was quiet at dusk, the mountains folding into shadow as the last light stretched across the fields. Rows of young tobacco plants shimmered with dew, their broad leaves catching the fading sun. The air was thick with the scent of earth and river, the same soil that had never known tobacco until now.
A man stood at the edge of the fields, his boots sinking into the soft ground. He lit a cigar and watched the smoke drift upward, curling into the stillness of the Honduran night. Behind him, the land stretched for miles, rich and untamed, bordered by winding rivers that whispered through the dark.
The first pull brought flavors of wood and cocoa, of citrus bright against the deeper currents of earth. It tasted like something familiar yet new, a voice rising from a place that had waited centuries to be heard. The smoke carried with it the promise of the land itself, bold and untested, ready to carve its place in memory.
In the silence of the valley, the cigar became more than a creation. It was a declaration that Honduras, with its rivers and soil and hidden strength, now spoke volumes through the leaf.
